1 Cook sausage until browned in 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into ½-inch pieces with wooden spoon, about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic, pepper flakes, and salt. Cook, stirring constantly, until garlic is fragrant, about 1½ minutes. Add broccoli rabe and chicken broth, cover, and cook until broccoli rabe turns bright green, about 2 minutes. Uncover and cook, stirring frequently, until most of the broth has evaporated and broccoli rabe is tender, 2 to 3 minutes.
2 Meanwhile, bring 4 quarts water to boil in large pot. Add pasta and 1 tablespoon salt and cook, stirring often, until al dente. Reserve ½ cup cooking water, then drain pasta and return it to pot.
3 Add the sausage mixture, oil, and Parmesan to pasta and toss to combine. Adjust consistency with reserved cooking water as needed and serve immediately.
